Onboarding goals: who gets what
Three ways a tenant admin could assign the 5 V1 goals to account groups. Groups: Gold, Silver, Registered, EMEA. Contoso = Gold + EMEA, Fabrikam = Silver, Northwind = Registered + EMEA.
Partner onboarding goals
Drag to set order. Click "For" to pick groups. Click scope to change it.
Good for- One ranked list, one order for everyone. No merge rules needed.
- Overlap is free: a company in 2 groups just gets the union.
- "By group" view answers "what does Gold see?" without a second data model.
Hard part- A group can't have its own order; order is always the tenant's order.
- With many groups, chips per row get long; needs the By group view to stay readable.
Goal sets
Click a set to edit it.
Good for- Easy to explain: "Gold partners get the Gold set".
- Each set can have its own order and its own scope per goal.
Hard part- Companies in 2+ groups get 2+ sets. We need merge rules (order, scope) that admins must learn.
- The same goal is edited in several places; sets drift apart over time.
- What a company sees is only clear in the merged preview.
Goal × group matrix
Same data as A. Click a column header to highlight "what this group sees". Use arrows to reorder.
Good for- Whole picture on one screen: down a column = what a group sees, across a row = who gets a goal.
- Fast bulk edits with checkboxes.
Hard part- Gets wide fast: 10+ groups won't fit.
- "All partners" column greys out the row, which can confuse.
- Reordering in a grid is clunky.
